Short-Row Set-In Sleeve Knitted from the Top

I used a pattern from an old KnitKing Magazine.

The description for the sleeve starts with: cast on 60 sts. and work 14 rows ribbing. Continue in stockinette stitch. Put counter at 0, after row 14 on each side bind off 3 sts, then shape cap.....

I started by making a table and write down in each row the decreases, in my case ending with row 54. Then I read the table from the bottom to the top.

row # like in pattern left right row from bottom

14 rows 1x1rib     1x1 rib to 68
14 rows straight     straight to 54
14   3 41
15 3   40
16 1 1 38
18 1 1 36
20 1 1 34
23 1 1 31
26 1 1 28
29 1 1 25
32 1 1 22
34 1 1 20
36 1 1 18
38 1 1 16
40 1 1 14
42 1 1 12
44 1 1 10
46 1 1 8
48 1 1 6
50 1 1 4
52 2   2
53   2 1
54 18 sts left 0

The sleeve is 60 stitches wide, so I hang the arm hole over 60 stitches, carriage in hold, 9-0-9 in working position, 10 to 30 on each side in hold. Knit row 0 from the bottom in the table from right to left, RC 1, put 2 sts on the right side (opposite carr) in working position, knit from left to right, RC 2, 2 sts on left in wworking position, knit from right to left. I have to remember to always wrap the end stitches. When all 60 stitches knit, 14 rows straight in stocking stitch, then transfer to ribber, 14 rows in 1x1 rib, then on waste yarn.
